Men's soccer edged by Abington on the road

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback on the road to Penn State Abington in an United East contest on Wednesday afternoon.

Berks drops to 2-8-1 on the season and 1-3 in the United East, while Abington improves to 6-4-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Berks was done in a pair of first half goals. The first coming off a converted penalty kick at the 13:48 mark, followed by another score in the 19th minute. From there, neither team was able to find the back of the net the rest of the way.

Dom Hutt again filled in well at keeper, finishing the contest with five saves, while his counterpart from Abington Matt Sheldon had three stops.

Shane Gleason, Owen VanDyke, and Gavin Dai all put shots on goal, but all three had their shots denied.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn College in an United East contest on Saturday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m. The men's squad will team up with the women to host their annual Pink Game fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
