Volleyball sweeps Alvernia on the road

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory on the road over Alvernia University in a non-conference contest on Monday evening.

The Nittany Lions improved to 7-6 on the year, while Alvernia falls to 7-7 this season. Berks took the first two sets by a score of 25-21, before coming out on a top with a 27-25 triumph to clinch the win in the third game.

Aubrey Hunt led Berks with 11 kills to go along with her 16 digs and one block assist. Makenzie Shoop chipped in 10 kills, while Jordan Thompson and Sarah Nichols each had six. Julia Rathsam handed out 33 assists, Riley Kovach recorded a team-high 23 digs. Cassie Shoupe and Thompson both racked up three service aces.

The Nittany Lions will host New Jersey City University on Thursday, October 6 at 6 p.m.
