WXC places fourth at United East Championship

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA - The Penn State Berks women's cross country team placed fourth out of five competing teams at the United East Championship hosted by Penn State Abington at Lorimer Park on Saturday afternoon. (Results)

The Nittany Lions compiled a team scored of 88 points, finishing just behind Lancaster Bible College (85 points) for third place. St. Mary's College was the team champions with 31 points, followed by SUNY Morrisville with 57 points.

Erin Horack finished sixth overall in the field of 38 runners after crossing the finish line at 27:42.27 on the 6K course. With her finish, Horack earned United East First Team honors, becoming the first Berks runner to receive those honors since Michelle Kiss in 2019. In addition to the All-Conference selection, Horack was the recipient of the United East's Elite 14 award, which goes to the member highest GPA of the top four teams in the standings.

Naomi Fay was the next Nittany Lion to finish, clocking in at 28:49.08 to place 11th and earn Second Team honors. Hayden Perrone finished 24th with a time of 34:47.57, followed by Veronica Maryanski (41:47.72) and Susan Duncan (41:51.84) in 33rd and 34th, respectively.

The Nittany Lions will compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship on Saturday, November 12.
