Men's soccer falls to St. Mary's, 2-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to St. Mary's College in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, Alex Blatt and Ash Deery were recognized with Senior Day honors.

The Nittany Lions dropped to 5-10-1 on the season and 3-4 in the United East, while the Seahawks improved to 10-3-4 on the year and 7-0 in the conference.

In the first half, Shane Gleason and Owen VanDyke had scoring opportunities that sailed just off target. Ethan Brazier and the defense played strong and the game went into the halftime intermission in a scoreless deadlock.

The score stayed that way until the 62:42 mark, when St. Mary's was able to breakthrough with a score. The visitors would tack on another score in the 71st minute for a 2-0 lead that held up the rest of the way.

Brazier finished with six saves for the Nittany Lions, while Matthew Kopsidas made five stops for the Seahawks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Ursinus College for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, October 25 ta 7 p.m.
