Men's soccer top Gallaudet, 6-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team defeated Gallaudet University, 6-1, in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 4-9-1 on the season and 3-3 in United East play, while the Bison fall to 3-9-1 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Gallaudet jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Kelly Grant scored at the 1:41 mark of the opening period. The lead was short lived as Ryan Miller scored off a pass from Gavin Dai in the 8th minute to even the score at 1-all. Owen VanDyke scored a pair of first half goals with assists coming from Matt Holmes and Dai to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, Shane Gleason added an assist as VanDyke added a score for a hat trick in the 62nd minute. Gleason later found the back of the net with an assist from Ash Deery in the 76th minute and Ryan Goffice capped off the scoring with a goal in the 87th minute, Caden Wanger provided the assist.

Ethan Brazier made two saves in net to earn the win, Bode Aggas had three stops for the Bison.

The Nittany Lions will host SUNY Maritime in a non-conference contest on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m.
