Men's soccer edged by Goucher, 2-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team was doomed by a pair of first half scores in a 2-0 setback to Goucher College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions drop to 3-9-1 on the season, while the Gophers improved to 7-3-3 overall.

The Goucher offense worked a corner kick at the 7:09 mark of the first half that led to the first score coming off of a header.

Shane Gleason nearly found the equalizer at the 22:08 mark, but Ale Sternini made a diving save that led to a Berks corner. Owen VanDyke took the corner and deposited a nice pass to the back post that Thomas Andress headed, but it bounced off the turn and just over the crossbar.

Following that series, the Gophers moved down the field and a cross from the end line led to another score in the 24th minute.

From there, neither team was able to put the ball in net. Ethan Brazier finished the contest with seven saves, while Sternini made two stops.

The Nittany Lions return to action with an United East contest at Gallaudet University on Saturday, October 15 at 3:30 p.m.
