Men's soccer drops home opener to Lebanon Valley

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions came out strong with Jonathan Morello putting a shot on goal in the second minute that led to a corner kick. Off that corner, Shane Gleason narrowly missed a score with a header that went wide.

The Dutchmen countered with a few shots and corners of their own and broke through with a score in the 8th minute. Lebanon Valley tacked on two more scores in the half to take a 3-0 lead into the break. In the second half, they added two more scores for the final margin.

Jose Aparicio played strong in net, finishing with nine saves while Colin Lewis had a stop in his collegiate debut. Shaun Quirk made three saves and Dalton Fitterling had four as the duo split the keeper duties for the Dutchmen.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Albright College for a non-conference contest on Saturday, September 11 at 4:30 p.m.
