Men's soccer stumbles against DeSales

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer saw its halftime lead evaporate as DeSales University got its offense going en route to a 5-1 decision over the Nittany Lions in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tale of two halves as Berks held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first half and led 1-0. In the second half, the Bulldogs outshot Berks by a 15-5 margin and tallied all five of its scores.

Mark Pirrone tallied a goal at the 43:06 mark of the first half to give the Nittany Lions the lead, Alex Chamorro added the assist on the play. Chamorro found Pirrone open at the top of the box and he curled a shot into the top left corner for his team-leading third goal of the season.

Jose Aparicio made a save on the only shot on goal in the first half, while Colin Lewis made five saves in the second half. Nathan Hatzfeld finished with five saves for the Bulldogs.

The Nittany Lions will open up United East Conference play with a road match at Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, September 22 at 4 p.m.
