Women's soccer drops home tilt to Dickinson

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to No. 19 ranked Dickinson College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The Red Devils got on the board with a score by Emma Cooney at the 19:26 mark of the first half. They later tacked on another on a failed clear by the Berks defense that Sarah Cudmore was able to sneak inside the left post for a 2-0 advantage in the 34th minute.

The Nittany Lions had put some pressure on the Dickinson defense, but either had the shot go wide or had it knocked out of harms way. Sara Hathaway and Emily Clapper each registered a shot on goal, but Sophia Kavulich was there to make the stop.

Berks was kept in the contest all night by Savannah McNeal, who finished with seven saves. She came off the end line and made a clean tackle on a breakaway late in the second half to keep another potential score off the board.

The Nittany Lions will have a final tune-up before conference play begins when they travel to Elizabethtown College on Saturday, September 18 at 7 p.m.
