Baseball drops two to Abington

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks baseball team dropped both games of its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader to Penn State Abington on Wednesday afternoon, falling by game scores of 11-3 and 18-2.

In the first game, Jay Pettit hit his first home run of the season with a solo shot in the bottom of the second. Pettit finished the game 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Pat Maloney, who narrowly missed out on a home run in the first inning, went 2-for-4 with a double, while Nate Trovinger was 2-for-3.

In the second game, Tate Yergey was 2-for-4 a run scored, while Pettit was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Collin Amerine was 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Maloney and Trovinger each added hits. Dale Murphy had two strikeouts in two innings of work and Sam Perrone had a pair of strikeouts in a perfect inning of relief. Bryce Stout tossed a scoreless inning of relief in his first appearance on the mound this season.

Berks returns to action with a doubleheader at Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, April 17 at 12 p.m.
