MBB falls in overtime to Gallaudet

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped an 81-78 heartbreaker in overtime to Gallaudet University in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions led 34-25 at halftime, but the Bison outscored Berks by a 46-37 margin in the second half to force overtime. In the extra period, Gallaudet took an early two point lead, but Jeff Lorah knocked down his seventh 3-pointer of the day to give Berks a 74-73 lead with 3:45 to play. After a couple of lead changes and ties, Grant Watson made a pair of free throws to give the Nittany Lions a 78-76 advantage with 1:42 left. The Bison got back-to-back layups and a free throw with two seconds left to secure the victory.

Lorah finished with a season-high 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting from beyond the arc to go along with seven rebounds, one block, one steal, and an assist. Jared Houck recorded 21 points, six assists, and three rebounds in 43 minutes of action. Josh Ruiz chipped in 10 points and five boards, while Hassan Koroma added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Watson had six points, four boards, and a game-high four blocked shots.

Rory Lewis led the way for the Bison with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Corey Smith followed with 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Brandon Chung finished with eight points and a contest-high 13 boards.

The Nittany Lions will host Gettysburg College on Tuesday, December 7 at 7 p.m. in the semester finale.
