MBB falls in conference opener to St. Mary's

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team suffered a 73-54 setback to St. Mary's College in the United East opener for both teams on Friday evening.

The Nittany Lions trailed 36-29 at halftime and were able to pull within two points after a layup by Jeff Lorah made it 43-41 with 12:01 to play. From that point, the Seahawks went on a 12-0 run over the next six minutes to take control of the contest.

Jared Houck finished with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Lorah followed with 14 points, four boards, and three assists. Hassan Koroma added five points and a team-high seven rebounds and three steals. Xavian Rodriguez dished out three assists and grabbed four boards.

Gary Grant and Elijah Crawford each scored 17 points for the Seahawks and Cameron Rucker had 12. Grant pulled down a team-high nine boards and dished out two assists.

The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet University in a United East contest on Saturday, December 4 at 1 p.m.
