WBB rally comes up short against Bryn Mawr

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team made a late push, but came up short in a 49-44 setback to Bryn Mawr College in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions led 11-5 after the first quarter, but Bryn Mawr won the second period by 15 points to take a 27-18 lead into the intermission. The Owls edged Berks by one point in the third to go into the final period ahead by 10 (40-30). The Nittany Lions went on a 9-4 run to narrow their deficit to five points (44-39) with 2:57 remaining in regulation. The Owls extended their lead to eight points, but a 3-pointer by Emily Clapper with 10 seconds remaining brought the final margin to five points.

Katie Armstrong was again the all around leader for Berks, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Sarah Painton finished with 10 points, eight coming in the second half, to go along with four boards, a blocked shot and a steal. Lydia Cacciola added eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Emily Clapper had five points, seven boards, and two steals. Zaelys DeArce and Sam Hagenbush each recorded three points.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Hood College for a non-conference contest on Thursday, November 18 at at 6  p.m.
