Women's volleyball sweeps Immaculata on the road

IMMACULATA, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep on the road over Immaculata University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions (8-11) won by game scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-15 to earn their fourth sweep of the season.

Cassie Shoupe finished with 14 kills, marking her fourth straight game and seventh time in eight games that she recorded double-digit kills. In addition, the junior outside hitter had just two errors on the night and finished with a .414 attack percentage. Shoupe also had 14 digs, two service aces, and a solo block.

Kayla Zelonka had a season-high 13 kills and 12 digs to go along with two ace and a solo block. Julia Rathsam recorded 24 assists, six aces, nine digs, and three kills,. Marie Durkota finished with a season-high 27 digs, while Natalia Perez finished one shy of her season best with 14.

The Nittany Lions will begin United East play with a pair of matches in New York on Saturday, October 9 at 12 p.m. Berks will face host Wells College at 12 p.m., followed by Penn State Harrisburg at 2 p.m.
