Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer edged by No. 1 ranked TCNJ

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer battled until the very end against the No. 1 team in the country, but The College of New Jersey came out with another shutout as they topped the Nittany Lions, 2-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

In the first minute of action Berks had a free kick deep in TCNJ territory, but Mary King's shot sailed high of the target. Over the next 20 minutes, Emily Clapper had a pair of shots go wide. During that same time, the Lions had six shots with three on frame that Savannah McNeal made the stop on. Sara Hathaway put a shot on goal in the 37th minute and had one go wide in the 39th to keep the contest remaining scoreless. TCNJ just missed out on a goal with a head clanking off the cross bar, but in the 42nd minute the Lions were able to slip one past the keeper for a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, TCNJ managed nine shots, while Berks had just two (one on frame by Adriana Lepera). The score remained just 1-0 in TCNJ's favor for the bulk of the half, until a score in the 84th minute sealed the victory for the visitors.

McNeal finished the contest with five saves, while Alexandra Panasuk made two stops to earn the shutout.

The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet University in an United East Conference contest on Saturday, October 9 at 3 p.m.
