Women's volleyball falls to Stevenson

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Stevenson University in non-conference action on Thursday night.

The Mustangs have won 11 straight games and improved to 22-4 overall, while Berks falls to 10-14 on the year. Stevenson took the opening two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-15. The third set was much tighter with the Mustangs leading 20-17, but the Nittany Lions rattled off five straight points to go up 22-20. The teams were tied at 23-all, but the Mustangs recorded two straight points to clinch the victory 25-23.

Cassie Shoupe and Kayla Zelonka each had seven kills and Sarah Nichols followed with six. Shoupe led the Nittany Lions with 18 digs, followed by Julia Rathsam with 14 to go with 19 assists. Natalia Perez and Marie Durkota each recorded 10 digs. Nichols finished with three block assists, while Zelonka had two block assists and one solo block.

The Nittany Lions will host an United East Conference tri-match on Saturday, October 23. Berks will take on St. Mary's College at 11 a.m. and Morrisville State at 3 p.m.
