Women's volleyball falls to Moravian, 3-1

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team had its three-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 setback to Moravian University in non-conference action on Thursday evening.

The Nittany Lions came out strong to win a 26-24 thriller in the opening game, but the Greyhounds would claim the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-12.

Kayla Zelonka led the Nittany Lions with 10 kills, followed by Cassie Shoupe with nine. Amelia Magazzu, Makenzie Shoop, and Sarah Nichols all chipped in seven kills. Berks collected 78 digs as a team, led by Shoupe with 22. Marie Durkota (19), Natalia Perez (14), and Julia Rathsam (11) all reached double digits in digs. Rathsam handed out 35 assists and added two kills. Madison Hetrick recorded three of the Nittany Lions five service aces. Shoop had a game-high three block assists and Zelonka had two, while Nichols finished with two solo blocks.

The Nittany Lions will host Wilkes University on Monday, October 18 at 6 p.m.
