Men's basketball falls to Harrisburg in home finale

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped its home season finale, 111-67, to Penn State Harrisburg in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Tuesday evening.

The men's squad teamed up with the women's squad to host its annual Pink Game to benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County. Donations were made at the door and the teams held a half-court competition at halftime of both games. The teams combined to raise $526.30 throughout the evening.

Berks hung tough over the first six-plus minutes over the game, trailing just 13-10. But Harrisburg used a 33-9 spurt over the next 10 minutes of action to build a comfortable 27 point lead (46-19) with 3:13 until half. Harrisburg led 51-24 at halftime and only expanded its lead over the second half.

Xavian Rodriguez and Jared Houck tied for the team-lead with 14 points apiece. Rodriguez also had a team-best nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Houck recorded three boards, three assists, and a team-high two steals. Rene Alexandre chipped in eight points, followed by Matt Martin with seven points to go along with four rebound. RJ Dixon added six points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Chris Haynes, Nate Curry, and Robby Bobeck all had 15 points to lead the Harrisburg offensive attack. Curry pulled down a team-high nine points, while Zegary Scott handed out a game-high seven assists.

The Nittany Lions will finish off the season with a pair of games in upstate New York this weekend. They will face Wells College on Friday, February 21 at 5 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. tip-off against Keuka College on Saturday.
