MBB rally falls short against LBC

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball rallied from a double-digit deficit in the second half, but came up a short in a 75-69 setback to Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division tilt on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions started out strong and held a 23-11 lead with 9:08 left in the opening period, but LBC closed out the half on a 19-4 run to take a three point lead (30-27) into the intermission. Out of the break, the Chargers extended their lead to 13 points (45-32) with 14:22 to play. Berks chipped away at its deficit and got to within four points on three occasions over the final two minutes, but LBC responded each time.

Xavian Rodriguez recorded 15 of his contest-high 19 points in the second half. The freshman forwarded notched his second straight double-double after pulling down aa team-high 11 rebounds, eight of which came in the second half. Jared Houck also scored in double figures with 10 points to go along with six assists, two blocks, and two boards. Jeff Lorah made three 3-pointers, two in the final minute of play, and finished with nine points, while Hassan Koroma and RJ Dixon both had seven points.

William Afoakwah led the Chargers with 17 points and 18 boards. Luke Beers chipped in 12 points, followed by Britton Beachy (11 points) and Jordan Shewbridge (10 points).

The Nittany Lions will travel to Gallaudet University for a NEAC South contest on Tuesday, February 4 at 5 p.m.
