READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team had four players score in double figures and the defense held tough down the stretch in a 73-67 victory over Penn State Abington in Tuesday night's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest.

Jared Houck knocked down a 3-pointer on Berks' first possession and the Nittany Lions never trailed during the first half of play. They built as big of a lead as 14 points on two occasions, but Abington was able to cut it down to a five-point deficit at the half (39-34).

Berks never led by more than five points in the start of the second half and Abington evened the score at 48-all with 13:29 to play. Berks kept taking a lead and Abington would tie it back up before the visitors grabber their first lead of the night at 59-58 with 6:17 to play. Aaron Harrison put Berks ahead with a layup, but Mark Davis knocked down a 3-pointer to put Abington up by two (62-60) with 5:48 to play. Hassan Koroma, Xavian Rodriguez, and Houck combined for all the Berks scoring as they closed out the game on 13-5 run to secure the win.

Rene Alexandre was hot coming off the bench in the first half, where he recorded all of his 19 points in a career-best effort. He shot 7-of-9 from the floor and was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. The senior guard sparked the team and excited the crowd with an and-1 following an acrobatic free throw. In addition, Alexandre recorded four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Houck and Rodriguez each chipped in 19 points to match Alexandre with the contest-high in scoring. Houck drilled four 3-pointers and was 5-for-7 at the free throw line. He also had four boards, three assists, and two steals, while playing all 40 minutes of the game. Rodriguez did the bulk of his scoring in the paint, finishing 9-of-15 from the floor and hitting his only attempt from long range. The freshman forward notched the first double-double of his career after bringing down a game-high 11 rebounds. Rodriguez narrowly missed out on a triple-double after finishing with a contest-high and personal best seven assists, which easily topped his previous high of three.

Koroma rounded out the Nittany Lions scoring in double figures with 12 points after going 6-of-6 from the floor. The freshman forward also had eight boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.

Pernell Ghee led Abington with 14 points, followed by Davis with 13 and Mohamed Mansaray with 12. Brian Randolph, who tallied 10 points, had a team best eight boards.
