WBB wins fourth straight, tops Penn College 57-37

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team built an early double-digit lead and were able to cruise to a 57-37 win on the road over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Tuesday evening at Bardo Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions, who won their fourth straight contest of the season to improve to 8-6 overall and 3-0 in NEAC South Division play, trailed 2-0 to start the contest. Kylie Herman made a layup and Sam Brensinger knocked down a 3-pointer  with 7:04 left in the first to give Berks the lead, which they led the rest of the way. The Nittany Lions closed out the first period up 16-8 and had a strong second quarter to take a 33-15 lead into the break. The teams played an even third quarter and Berks outscored the Wildcats (3-10, 0-3 NEAC South) by two in final 10 minutes for their 20 margin of victory.

Herman finished with a contest-high 18 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes of action. Katie Armstrong recorded 15 points, eight boards, five steals, and three assists. Brensinger chipped in eight points and matched Armstrong with five steals, while Abbie Carr had six points, three boards, and  a pair of steals. Julia Bookwalter and Nicole Kopcik each registered four points and two steals.

Cassi Kuhns led the Wildcats with 13 points, while Tori Wolfe tallied a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards. Wolfe also recorded four assists, three steals, and two blocked shots. Ja'Quela Dyer had six points to go along with game-highs of 15 rebounds and three blocks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a NEAC South Division contest on Saturday, January 25 at 3 p.m.
