Men's basketball falls on the road to Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - After struggling with shooting in the early going, the Penn State Berks men's basketball team found itself in an insurmountable hole as they fell 90-70 to Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions trailed 22-4 by the halfway mark of the opening period and were down by as much as 31 points (44-13) with 2:46 left in the half. Berks closed out the half on a 9-4 run to make it 48-22 in the Wildcats favor at the break. Penn College grabbed its largest lead of the contest at points (66-30) with 13:28 to play. The Nittany Lions outscored Penn College 18-9 over the final six minutes of the game, but by then the Wildcats had put the score well out of reach.

Xavian Rodriguez had a season-high and team-best 21 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jeff Lorah and Jared Houck both recorded 14 points, with Houck also notching four assists and four boards. Rene Alexandre came off the bench to chip in seven points and four rebounds.

Ben Sosa led the Wildcats with 21 points and also pulled down eight boards. Elijah Vazquez added 18 points and Carson Garvis followed with 16. Jesse White finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a NEAC South Division contest on Saturday, January 25 at 1 p.m.
