MBB falls to SUNY Poly in NEAC opener

UTICA, NY - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team began North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a 94-63 setback on the road to SUNY Poly on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions shot just 13.9% (5-of-36) from the floor and were 0-of-15 from 3-point range in the opening half, which led the Wildcats to a 43-15 advantage at the break. Berks shot significantly better in the second half, going 43.6 (17-of-39) from the field and 40.0% (8-of-20) beyond the arc. SUNY Poly outscored the Nittany Lions, 51-48, in a much more competitive second half.

RJ Dixon had a team-high 18 points, five assists, four steals, and two blocked shots. Jeff Lorah knocked down 4-of-5 shots from long distance to finish with 14 points. Jared Houck and Steve Luchansky each added seven points, followed by Shakim Davis with six. Hassan Koroma pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Caleb Canty, who was one of four Wildcats to score in double figures, had a contest-high 23 points. Josh Gregory chipped in 11 points and grabbed a game-best 14 boards.

The Nittany Lions will compete in their final game of the fall semester with a non-conference contest at Centenary University on Saturday, December 21 at 3 p.m.
