Men's basketball drops shootout with Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped a 104-95 shootout on the road to Centenary University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions trailed 57-50 at halftime and were able to get within two points (69-67) with 13:01 remaining in regulation after a 3-pointer by Jared Houck. RJ Dixon's layup with 7:02 left to play pulled Berks with three points at 83-80. The Cyclones outscored Berks 21-15 down the stretch to pull away and secure the win.

Dixon finished with a team-high 23 points after making six field goals and going 10-for-11 at the free throw line. The sophomore guard pulled down eight rebounds, three steals, and one blocked shot, which also were team-highs.

Houck went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 19 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Jeff Lorah added 12 points, while Hassan Koroma and Steve Luchansky each chipped in 10 points. Rene Alexandre finished with eight points and four boards.

Chris Labelle led the Cyclones with a game-high 24 points, while also recording six boards, four assists, one block, and one steal. Billy Veras followed with 18 points and Tom Weiler had 17.

The Nittany Lions return to action next semester with a non-conference road game at the University of Valley Forge on Wednesday, January 8 at 7 p.m.
