Men's basketball falls to Delaware Valley in season opener

DOYLESTOWN, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team opened up the season with a 77-66 setback to Delaware Valley University in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at James Work Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions (0-1) held a 48-33 lead at halftime, but foul trouble for Berks led to the Aggies (1-0) using a 44-18 second half to fuel the comeback win.

Jeff Lorah made a stunning debut for Berks, finishing with a game-high 24 points after shooting 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. The freshman guard tied the single-game school record with eight 3's, joining three other members to accomplish the feat. In addition, Lorah tied for the team-lead with seven rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.

RJ Dixon also had a strong debut with Berks, recording 17 points, six boards, and a contest-best six assists. Anthony McFall added 10 and Hassan Koroma had six. Xavian Rodriguez and Jared Houck matched Lorah with the team-high seven boards.

Jordan Tucker led the Aggies with 19 points, followed by Damian Washington with 16 and Devin Hill with 13. Thomas Ibidapo pulled down a contest-best eight boards.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Albright College for a non-conference tilt on Monday, November 11 at 7 p.m.
