Men's basketball topped by Alvernia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped a 97-68 decision to Alvernia University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at the Beaver Community Center.

Early in the first half, the Nittany Lions (0-6) trailed 15-12 after a 3-pointer by Anthony McFall and back-to-back 3's from AJ Colon made it a 20-18 deficit with 10:50 left in the half. The Golden Wolves (3-2) closed out  the half on a 27-13 run to take a 47-31 lead into the break. Alvernia continued its hot shooting in the second half and outscored the Nittany Lions 50-37 to secure the win.

McFall finished with a contest-high 26 points after shooting 10-of-17 from the floor and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Colon connected on four shots from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points, while Jared Houck and Shakim Davis both chipped in nine points. Davis pulled down a team-high six rebounds, while Houck dished out four assists and grabbed three boards.

Justin Thomas led the Golden Wolves with 24 points, followed by Malik Green and Darnell Ransom with 22 each. Green had a game-high seven boards.

The Nittany Lions return to action with their NEAC opener at SUNY Poly on Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m.
