McFall's big game not enough in setback to E-Town

READING, PA - Anthony McFall poured in a game-high 33 points, but it was not enough as the Penn State Berks men's basketball team dropped its home opener 87-73 to Elizabethtown College in non-conference action on Wednesday night at the Beaver Community Center.

The two teams played a back-and-forth battle in the first half that ended with the score even at 41-all. The Nittany Lions (0-3) jumped out to a six point lead (51-45) with 17:04 left in regulation, but the Blue Jays (2-0) grabbed a 54-53 lead with 14:26 to go. Xavian Rodriguez gave Berks a 56-54 lead with a 3-pointer, but that was the last the Nittany Lions would be out in front. E-Town went on a 12-0 run and did not look back the rest of the way.

McFall finished with 33 points after shooting 5-of-10 from beyond on the arc and 10-for-10 at the free throw line. The sophomore guard connected on four 3's and had 19 of his points in the first half. Jeff Lorah recorded nine points and five boards, while Xavian Rodriguez and Shakim Davis both chipped in seven points. Hassan Koroma led Berks with six boards and RJ DIXON had a team-high four assists.

Bryce Green led the Blue Jays with 26 points, while Connor Moffat had 22 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Zach Nannen added 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

The Nittany Lions return to with a road game at Gettysburg College on Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
