Women's volleyball falls on the road to Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to Moravian College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at Johnston Hall.

The Nittany Lions (14-14) dropped the opening game 25-14, but evened the match at 1-all with a 25-19 win in the second game. The Greyhounds (10-19) won by scores of 25-17, 25-17 to close out the contest.

Blair Eckel had a team-high eight kills, followed by Syd Himmelberger and Sarah Nichols with seven each. Eckel pulled down contest-best 20 digs, followed by Julia Rathsam with 13 and Marie Durkota with 10. Rathsam handed out 27 assists and had one service ace, while Maddie Deloglos had a pair of aces. Himmelberger and Nichols each recorded four block assists, which ties a career-high for both of them.

The Nittany Lions finish out the regular season with a must-win game at home on Saturday, November 2 against Gallaudet University at 5 p.m. With a win, Berks would pull even with Wells College in the standings for the sixth and final postseason spot. The Nittany Lions would then earn a spot in the playoffs since they defeated the Express last week head-to-head.
