Women's soccer wins sixth straight, top Cazenovia 6-0

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team won its sixth straight contest after topping Cazenovia College, 6-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 11-6 overall and 9-0 in the NEAC, while the Wildcats fall to 6-8-1 on the season and 3-5-1 in the conference.

Emily Clapper got the scoring started early with an unassisted goal at the 7:45 mark of the opening period. The sophomore midfielder followed that up with a score in the 18th minute with Sara Hathaway providing the assist. Alexis Schoener made it 3-0 with a goal at 20:32, Hathaway added the assist on that score as well. Megan Jardine capped the first half scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute off a pass from Schoener.

Clapper scored a pair of goals in the second half en route to a career-high four goals. Jeyda Duran and Jardine assisted on Clapper's score in the 69th minute and Hathaway notched her third assist of the afternoon on Clapper's goal at 74:32.

Leslie Estrada picked up her 10th shutout of the season after making three saves, while her counterpart Caitlin Kelleher had nine saves.

Berks outshot the Wildcats by a 27-5 margin (15-3 on goal) and held a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will host Keuka College in a battle of the top two teams in the standings on Friday, November 1 at 3 p.m. On Friday, the men's and women's soccer teams will host their annual Pink Game with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
