Women's volleyball edged by Muhlenberg on the road

ALLENTOWN, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team had its three-match win streak come to an end in a heartbreaking 3-2 setback on the road to Muhlenberg College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening.

The Nittany Lions (13-11) dropped the first set 25-15, but answered back with a 25-21 triumph and thrilling 28-26 win to take a 2-1 lead. The Mules kept the match alive with a 25-19 win and took the decisive fifth set by a score of 15-6.

Blair Eckel and Syd Himmelberger tied for the team-lead with 14 kills each, while Natalie Dwyer chipped in eight and Sarah Nichols had six. Himmelberger also added two solo blocks and two block assists. Julia Rathsam had 35 assists to go along two block assists, and a service ace. The Nittany Lions had five players finish with 12 or more digs, led by Marie Durkota with 24 and Dwyer with 21. Eckel added 17 digs, followed by Rathsam with 16 and Madison Hetrick with 12.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Wilkes University for a non-conference contest on Thursday, October 24 at 7 p.m.
