Men's soccer falls on the road to Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Ursinus College in a non-conference contest on a rainy Tuesday night at Patterson Field.

The Nittany Lions drop to 3-9-3 on the season, while the Bears improve to 5-7-2 overall.

Adam Johnson, making his first start of the season, finished with a career-high 11 saves in net for Berks. The sophomore keeper recorded eight saves in the first half and made another three stops in the second half. The 11 saves were the most in a game this season by a Nittany Lion keeper, surpassing two games in which eight saves were recorded.

Brenden Valverde and Johnny Guimaraes each had a shot on goal, but neither were able to find the back of the net.

Ursinus outshot the Nittany Lions by a 24-9 margin (14-2 on goal) and held a 7-4 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Cazenovia College for a NEAC contest on Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m.
