Women's volleyball tops Albright on the road

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory on the road over nearby Albright College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at the Bollman Center.

The Nittany Lions improve to 11-10 overall, while Albright drops to 7-9 on the season. Berks won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15, but the Lions kept the match going by taking the third game 25-21. The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 10-3 lead and eventually led 16-10 before clinching the victory with a 25-18 triumph in the fourth set.

Natalie Dwyer and Zoe Barna tied with a contest-high 13 kills, followed by Blair Eckel with nine and Syd Himmelberger with six. Julia Rathsam recorded 43 assists and 23 digs, while also collecting four kills. Eckel followed Rathsam with 20 digs, while Marie Durkota had 15 and Barna recorded 12. Berks combined for 12 service aces by Eckel (five), Rathsam (four), and Durkota (three).

The Nittany Lions will travel to upstate New York for a pair of NEAC contests on Saturday, October 19. They open up play at 12 p.m. against SUNY Cobleskill, followed by a 2 p.m. match with host SUNY Poly.
