Women's soccer wins fourth straight after topping SUNY Poly, 7-0

MARCY, N.Y. - After being held scoreless in the first 45 minutes of action, the Penn State Berks women's soccer team rattled off seven unanswered goals in the second half on its way to a 7-0 rout of SUNY Poly in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions, who have won a season-high four straight games, improve to 9-6 overall and 7-0 in the NEAC, while the Wildcats drop to 5-6-1 on the season and 4-3 in the conference.

Berks fired off 17 shots - nine on goal - in the opening half, but were not able to sneak any past the Wildcat keeper. The second half was a different story, as Sara Hathaway notched the first of her three goals just 48 seconds into the period. Charlotte Pizzuto added a goal in the 50th minute, followed by two straight by Hathaway. Emily Clapper, Emily Stump, and JoJo Zolli each tallied a goal in the second half. Lauren Korpics recorded a pair of assists, while Clapper, Alexis Schoener, and Karina Raykova all added one assist.

For the game, Berks outshot the Wildcats by a 45-0 margin (24-0) on goal and held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will host Morrisville State on Saturday, October 19 at 3 p.m. Prior to the game, Berks will hold Senior Day recognition.
