Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer falls to SUNY Poly on overtime PK

MARCY, N.Y. - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team battled through 99-plus minutes of action against SUNY Poly before having the game come to a disappointing end after a converted penalty kick by the Wildcats was the lone score in a 1-0 contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions drop to 2-8-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the NEAC, while SUNY Poly improves to 11-3 on the year and 7-0 in the conference.

Carter Lam kept the Wildcats off the board with four saves in the first half and one in the second half. The sophomore keeper added one more stop in the overtime period to record a career-high six saves.

At the 99:40 mark of the contest, Berks was whistled for a foul in the box that led to the penalty kick. Richard Morris converted the PK to keep the Wildcats record perfect in NEAC play this year.

Berks best scoring opportunity came in the first half with a penalty kick, but James D'Alessio made the stop to keep the match scoreless at the time.

For the second time in as many days, the Nittany Lions received stellar play from their defensive back line of Jakob Fischer, Andrew Bowman, Luke Higgins, Ash Deery, and Brennan Scheetz.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a home contest against Morrisville State on Saturday, October 19 at 1 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, Penn State Berks will recognize Fischer with Senior Day honors.
