COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions are now 2-7-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the NEAC, while Tigers now sit at 6-4-2 on the year and 4-1-1 in conference action.

The scoring began early when Gregoire Diedhiou scored off a corner kick by Boubacar Doucoure at the 11:57 mark of the opening period.

Berks responded at the 13:45 mark when Nate Nguyen collected a rebound and beat the keeper with his fourth goal of the season.

Neither team was able to scratch out another goal the rest of the way. SUNY Cobleskill outshot the Nittany Lions by a 25-20 margin, although Berks put 11 shots on target compared to seven by the Tigers. Cobleskill finished the contest with a 10-4 advantage on corner kicks. In the overtime periods, Cobleskill outshot Berks by a 4-3 count, but neither team had a shot go on frame.

Carter Lam recorded three saves in the first half and Jose Aparicio had three stops in second half, while Cobleskill keeper Rashawn Best finished with 10 saves.

Lam and Aparicio played strong in net, but also received solid play from the defense to keep the Tigers off the board for nearly 100 minutes after giving up the first goal. Jakob Fischer, Luke Higgins, Andrew Bowman, Ash Deery, and Brennan Scheetz turned in strong performances on the back line for Berks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to SUNY Poly for a NEAC contest on Sunday, October 13 at 12 p.m.
