Men's basketball topped on the road by Abington

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team saw its lead slip away in the second half in a 77-65 setback to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon.

Berks led through the bulk of the first half and built a lead as large as 14 points (39-25) with 2:57 left in the period. Abington closed out the half on an 8-0 run to make it a 39-33 score in Berks' favor going into the break. Abington chipped away at the deficit and eventually went ahead 52-50 with 12:26 to go in regulation. Berks evened the contest at 57-all with 8:49 left, but Abington closed out the game on a 20-8 to secure the win.

Matt Seip finished with a game-high 22 points after shooting 9-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. In addition, the senior forward tallied eight rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot. Latrell Carroll notched his seventh double-double of the season after recording 14 points and a contest-high 11 boards. Carroll also swatted three shots and had one steal. Monty Farmer connected on three shots from beyond the arc en route to 11 points, followed by Steve Luchansky with 10 points. Luchansky dished out a team-high four assists.

Jay Fitzgerald led Abington with 18 points, followed by Pernell Ghee with 16 and Jordan Lomax with 11. Lomax pulled down a team-high 10 boards and Bobby Olsen tallied eight.

Berks returns to action with a NEAC contest at home against Keuka College on Saturday, January 12 at 3 p.m.
