Men's soccer falls to LBC in NEAC opener

LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 setback to Lancaster Bible College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (2-1-1, 0-1-0 NEAC) had kept LBC off the scoreboard throughout the bulk of the first half. But after LBC worked a corner kick, the ball found its way into the back of the net with under one second remaining until the intermission.

Out of the break, the Chargers (1-1, 1-0 NEAC) tacked on to their lead with a score in the 56th minute and then another in the 63rd.

At 72:41, Berks was able to break through with a goal when Alex Williams sent in a corner kick and Tom Ulrich put into net for his first goal of the season. The Charger lead was back up to three after a converted penalty kick in the 77th minute.

Trent Johnson finished the contest with five saves and Gerardo Sosa had one. LBC keeper Jake Deterline recorded three stops in the contest.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a non-conference contest against Penn State Harrisburg during the midweek.
