Women's soccer edged by No. 3 ranked TCNJ

EWING, N.J. - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team finally opened up the 2018 season, where they were tasked with taking on nationally ranked TCNJ. The Nittany Lions held even through the first half, but TCNJ put up a pair of goal midway through the second period for a 2-0 victory on Wednesday evening.

The Nittany Lions had their season opener at home against Wilkes University canceled due to field conditions. They then got to start their season by facing the No. 3 ranked Lions on their home turf.

Bristol Pizzuto played strong in her debut with Berks, finishing the game with 10 saves (five in both halves).

TCNJ broke through with its first goal of the game in the 67th minute by Taylor Nolan. The Lions then doubled their lead when Haley Bodden headed home a shot off of a corner at the 79:02 mark of the contest.

The Nittany Lions were limited to just three shots, but all three were put on target. Megan Jardine had a shot on goal following a Lions foul in the 36th minute and freshman Emily Clapper also challenged the keeper in the 42nd minute. With the Nittany Lions trailing just 1-0 at the time, Caitlin Golden tried to find the equalizing goal in the 78th minute, but Nicole DiPasquale made her third and final save of the night.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible for the NEAC opener on Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m.
