Women's volleyball drops road contest to Keystone

LA PLUME, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road to Keystone College in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at Ace Spalding Gym.

The Nittany Lions (5-11) fell in the opening game 25-18 and then by a score of 25-20 in the second set. Berks rebounded with a 25-20 victory in the third, but the Giants (4-8) were claim the fourth game by  a 25-21 margin.

Maddy Kessler had a strong day for Berks after smashing a team-high eight kills with just one error committed in 19 attempts. In addition, Kessler recorded a career-high three solo blocks, to go along with two block assists, three digs, and a service ace.

Natalie Dwyer notched seven kills, followed by Megan Lackman and Abbie Carr with six kills each. Carr tallied two solo blocks, raising her team lead to 16 on the season. MacKenzie Reed handed out 23 assists, while also adding four kills, and two block assists.

As a team, the Nittany Lions recorded its second most digs of the season with 83. Madison Wojciechowski led the way with 23 digs, followed by Lackman with 17. Ashley Morris registered a season-high 15 digs, Dwyer added 13 to round out the Berks players reaching double figures in digs.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a non-conference contest at York College on Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
