Women's volleyball falls to Neumann, 3-1

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team fell by a score of 3-1 to Neumann University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening at the Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions drop to 4-9 on the year, while the Knights improve to 8-7. Neumann won the first two games by scores of 25-17 and 25-22, but the Nittany Lions battled back for a 25-22 triumph in the third. The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the fourth and eventually took the set by a count of 25-12.

Megan Lackman paced the Berks offense with 10 kills, followed by Abbie Carr with nine. Carr had a career-high and tied a single-game school record with seven block assists, while also adding one solo block. Madison Wojciechowski led the Nittany Lions with 17 digs, while Lackman, MacKenzie Reed, and Ashley Morris all had seven digs. Jenna Plitnick notched three kills and three blocks assists, with Reed and Madison Hetrick both chipping in two block assists. Reed also handed out 22 assists.

The Knights were led by Melanie Malseed with 16 kills and 13 digs, while Ariana Pena had 11 and Bre Hickey added 10. Hayley Glah had a team-high 16 digs, while Rachel Cray dished out 41 assists.

The Nittany Lions will travel to New York for a pair of NEAC contests on Saturday, September 22. They will face host Cazenovia College at 10 a.m., followed by Morrisville State College at noon.
