Women's volleyball has win streak snapped by Albright

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team had its four-match winning streak come to a halt with a 3-1 setback to Albright College in non-conference action on Monday night at the Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (4-8) battled with Albright in the opening game, but found themselves on the wrong end of a 32-30 decision. Albright carried that momentum into the second game, where they were able to hold on late for a 25-22 win and a 2-0 lead in the series. Berks answered with a strong 25-17 triumph in the third set, but the comeback bid would end there. Albright jumped out to a comfortable 7-0 lead in the fourth set and ran away with it late en route to a 25-14 win.

Abbie Carr and Maddy Kessler both recorded 10 kills, while Megan Lackman added eight and Jenna Plitnick chipped in seven. Carr also notched four block assists and two solo blocks, Plitnick had three block assists. Madison Wojciechowski hauled in 19 digs, followed by Lackman with 12 and Natalie Dwyer with 11. Ashley Morris registered three service aces and Wojciechowski had two. MacKenzie Reed handed out 35 assists and grabbed eight digs.

The Nittany Lions will host Neumann University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m.
