Women's soccer shuts out Abington

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team returned to the win column with a 12-0 victory over Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

Berks improves to 2-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in the NEAC, while Abington drops to 1-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the conference. 

Freshman JoJo Zolli recorded a contest-high four goals, including the first goal of her collegiate career in the 37th minute of the contest. Caitlin Golden added a hat trick and assist, while Monica Pinel recorded two goals and assist. Karina Raykova and Emily Clapper both had one goal and one assist, while Alexa Lopez chipped in one score. Ryann Barreto handed out a pair of assists, while Charlotte Pizzuto and Adara Enrique each had one assist.

Rylee Milligan made one save in the second half and combined with Bristol Pizzuto for the teams third straight shutout.

Berks outshot Abington 33-2 margin (23-1 on goal) and held a 12-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Berks will host No. 12 ranked Swarthmore College on Sunday, September 16 at 3 p.m.
