Men's soccer falls to Abington, 3-1

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

Berks falls to 2-3-1 on the season and 0-2 in NEAC, while Abington improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Abington tallied a goal at the 4:02 mark of the contest, but Berks responded in the 19th minute when Tyler Brown fed a pass to Alex Khaldaoui just outside of the box. Khaldaoui took a couple of dribbles and beat the keeper with a low liner for his first goal of the season.

Abington earned a penalty kick late in the first half. Trent Johnson was able to make the save on the PK, but Hernando Villamil followed the shot and head the rebound into the open net to give Abington a 2-1 lead. Abington jumped ahead 3-1 with an early goal in the second half and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

Johnson finished the contest with seven first half saves, while Gerardo Sosa recorded a pair of stops in the second half. Estaban Leon earned the win in net for Abington after finishing the day with three saves.

Abington outshot Berks b a 16-6 margin (12-3 on goal) and held a 9-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Berks returns to action with a NEAC contest at the College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday, September 19 at 4 p.m.
