Strong second half powers women's basketball to win over Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team used a strong second half effort to earn a 78-46 victory on the road over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Bardo Gymnasium.

The Nittany Lions (8-10, 6-7 NEAC) led 37-32 going into the halftime intermission. Out of the break, Berks went on a 15-2 run and eventually outscored the Wildcats (2-17, 1-10 NEAC) 19-8 in the third quarter. The Nittany Lions carried that momentum into the final period where they held a 22-6 advantage to secure the victory. For the half, Berks outscored Penn College by a 41-14 margin. During that stretch, the offense shot 43.9% (18-of-41), while holding the Wildcats to just 21.7% (5-of-23) shooting.

Kylie Herman turned in a solid all around performance and narrowly missed out on a triple-double. The sophomore guard registered a game-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Herman also dished out eight assists and recorded a contest-best six steals. Herman has recorded 20 or more points in seven games, including three of the last four contests.

Jennifer Martin notched her second straight double-double after tallying 16 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. She also had three steals, three assists, and two blocked shots. Deanna Daddona chipped in 14 points and four assists, while Sam Brensinger and Mackenzie Huber both had six. Brensinger handed out a team-best seven assists and also had four steals.

Ericka Lepley led the Wildcats with 14 points, while Tori Wolfe had 12 points and a team-high seven boards. Maddie Wenk added nine points and Aniah Ellerbee recorded seven points and seven assists.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a NEAC contest at Wilson College on Wednesday, February 7 at 8 p.m.
