Fighting Tigers pull away late to top men's basketball

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team went cold down the stretch and SUNY Cobleskill pulled away late en route to a 93-66 victory over the Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.

Berks led 41-38 at halftime, but the Fighting Tigers went ahead 45-44 with 17:16 remaining and did not relinquish the lead the rest of the way. The Nittany Lions pulled within three points (67-64) with 7:32 to play, but SUNY Cobleskill closed out the game on a 26-2 run to seal the victory.

Matt Seip led Berks with 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-3 from long distance. Robbie McHugh came off the bench to add 10 points and grab four rebounds, while Dave Polisano added eight points, four assists, and two steals. Eric Stepnowski chipped in seven points and had a team-high six boards.

Malik Chambers paced the Fighting Tigers with 19 points, followed by Joel Costello with 17 and Antwan Claxton with 14. Anthony McNeil and Kahlil Wilson each had a contest-high nine rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will face Penn College on Sunday, February 4 at 11 a.m.
