Men's basketball falls on the road to Alvernia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball dropped a 77-59 decision on the road to Alvernia University in a non-conference contest on Friday evening.

The Nittany Lions (0-2) kept even through the early going and went ahead 28-26 with 5:58 remaining in the first half for their only lead of the game. The Golden Wolves (1-0) closed out the opening period on a 19-7 run to go into the break up by 10 points. In the second half, Berks closed its deficit to seven points (56-49) with 13:09 to play, but that is as close as they would get the rest of the way.

Senior forward Matt Seip led the Nittany Lions with 16 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Latrell Carroll chipped in 13 points, followed by Robbie McHugh with nine and E'drise Hightower with seven. Hightower also grabbed a team-best eight boards and handed out five assists. Steve Luchansky added five points and Monty Farmer chipped in four.

Keon Taylor paced the Golden Wolves with 23 points, while Malik Green notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards.

The Nittany Lions return action with a game at Albright College on Wednesday, November 14 at 7 p.m.
