Volleyball splits tri-match on Saturday

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team defeated host College of Saint Elizabeth, 3-0, in a NEAC contest to open the day, before falling by the same score to FDU-Florham in a non-conference tilt on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (7-17, 5-3 NEAC) edged the Eagles (7-13, 2-6 NEAC) by a score of 25-23 in the first game. Berks claimed the second game by a 25-17 count and nipped CSE 25-22 in the third set clincher. In the second match of the day, the Devils (9-17) won by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-13.

Abbie Carr had eight kills and no errors on 21 attempts for a .381 hitting percentage against CSE. The sophomore middle blocker also added two solo blocks and a service ace. Megan Lackman and Maddy Kessler each chipped in six kills for the Nittany Lions. Madison Wojciechowski recorded a contest-high 20 digs, followed by JENNA PLITNICK with 13 and MacKenzie Reed with 11. Reed also dished out 20 assists in the winning effort.

Carr, Kessler, and Plitnick all had five kills in the setback to the Devils. Wojciechowski had a 14 digs, followed by Reed with 11 and Ashley Morris with 10. Reed handed out 16 assists, while also recording two block assists.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Brandywine for a non-conference contest on Monday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
