Men's basketball falls on the road to Alvernia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell on the road, 99-60, to nearby Alvernia University in a non-conference tilt on Sunday afternoon as Berks returned to action for the first time in 31 days.

The Nittany Lions opened up the game 3-of-3 from the field after Eric Stepnowski hit a jumper, while Nelson Hine and Matt Seip both drilled 3-pointers. But the Golden Wolves were able to match each of those baskets to make it an 8-all game just over 1:30 into the contest. From there, Alvernia used a 23-6 run to take control of the game before taking a 54-24 lead into the break.

Seip led Berks with 12 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes of action. David DiMeo followed with 11 points, while Stepnowski and Ryan Worrell both chipped in eight points. Hine grabbed four boards and handed out a team-high four assists.

Alex Shippen led the Golden Wolves with 25 points, followed by Calil Moultrie with 14 and Keon Taylor with 13. Kyle Gordan notched a double-double after recording 12 points and game-high 15 boards.

The Nittany Lions will host Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday, January 8 at 6 p.m.
