Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hine's career-day not enough in setback to LBC

READING, PA - Nelson Hine drained seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with a career-high 30 points, but it was not enough as the Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell to Lancaster Bible College, 102-87, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Wednesday night.

The Nittany Lions trailed 49-32 at halftime were down by as many as 26 points (69-43) with 11:14 to play in the second period. From that point, Hine recorded 17 points and Berks outscored the Chargers 28-12 over the next five-plus minutes to cut the deficit to 10 points (81-71). The Chargers made their foul shots down the stretch to seal the victory and remain unbeaten in league action.

Hine recorded 27 of his 30 points in the second half, in which he shot 9-of-15 from the field and went 7-of-12 from long distance, with the bulk of those 3's coming from well beyond the arc.  Hine has combined for 54 points over the last two games and has risen his season average to 9.9 points per game. In addition to the scoring spree, the senior guard dished out a contest-high seven assists to go along with five rebound, one steal, and one blocked shot.

All five of the Nittany Lions starters scored in double figures. Dave Polisano, who drilled three 3-pointers, followed Hine with 12 points. David DiMeo and Matt Seip both added 11 points, while Robbie McHugh notched 10 points and a team-best eight boards. Tyheem Albright chipped in nine points off the bench.

Quentin Davis shot 11-of-13 from the field, which included four monstrous dunks, led the Chargers with 26 points. Bill Livezey and Luke Beers both tallied 14 points, while Herbie Brown contributed 13 points.

As a team, Berks made 14 3-pointers which is tied for the second most in a single-game in program history.

The Nittany Lions will travel north for a pair of NEAC Crossover games this weekend. They will face SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, February 3 at 1 p.m., followed by Penn College on Sunday, February 4 at 11 a.m.
