Women's basketball falls on the road to Abington

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team was topped by Penn State Abington, 78-61, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Tuesday night.

Berks fought back from a 12-2 deficit to trail by just three points (17-14) at the end of the first period. Deanna Daddona knocked down a 3-pointer to even the score at the start of the second quarter, but Abington used a 14-2 run to take control of the game. The Berks offense outscored the hosts 20-12 in the fourth quarter, but by the point Abington had put the game out of reach.

Kylie Herman led Berks with 17 points and eight rebounds to go along with her two steals and two assists. Melissa Martin chipped in 12 points and Sam Brensinger followed with 11. Daddona rounded out the Nittany Lions scoring in double figures with 10 points.

Symantha Marrero had a contest-high 23 points, while Shayna Rodriguez added 19 points. Grace Dewey notched a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards.

The Nittany Lions will host Bryn Athyn College in NEAC action on Saturday, January 27 at 3 p.m.
